We want our patients to be as healthy as they can be, which is why we offer ImmuneCare, our vaccine and immunization program.
Each year on average in the U.S., more than 50,000 adults die from vaccine-preventable diseases or their complications. All Red Cross Pharmacy locations offer a variety of vaccines and immunizations to help you stay healthy.
If you don’t see the vaccine or immunization you need listed, please ask a pharmacist about the vaccine you may need. We also provide on-site flu shot clinics for businesses.
Remember, immunizations can help prevent illness. Why wouldn’t you protect yourself and your loved ones?
All vaccines must be licensed and approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) before being used in the U.S., and a vaccine must go through extensive testing to show that it works and that it is safe before the FDA will approve it.
During most influenza seasons, an average of 5 to 20 percent of the U.S. population is infected with the seasonal influenza virus. Seasonal influenza immunization can reduce visits to the doctor’s office, lost work or school days, and reduce antibiotic use. Come in to your local Red Cross Pharmacy today to get your flu shot!
Another important vaccine is Zostavax, which helps prevent shingles. If you’ve ever had chickenpox, you could get shingles. The same virus that causes chickenpox also causes shingles. The virus stays in your body and can later resurface as shingles, a painful, blistering rash. Talk to your pharmacist to see if you’re eligible for the shingles vaccine.
